Guarded In Christ Book Review Special!!

Hello Hello !

Today I will be doing two book reviews for the price of one blog post! So without further ado lets jump right in!

This is one of my favorites written by Heather Hollman who invites the readers to surrender themselves to the will of the Holy Spirit. By surrendering we will be able to fulfil the quests that God has for us to accomplish here on earth.

Hollman goes into the structure of how we need to keep God at the center of our minds and hearts. God is our fotress and our protector keeping us safe from spiritual battles.

In order for us to except Gods will for our lives we must die to self  to be hidden in Christ and live out a crucified life with God.

Hollman illustrates these empowering cincepts by using the Eagle metaphor and hidden fortress within us.

Without spoiling the rest, I highly encourage you guys to take a look at her book and be inspired and empowered by her words!!

Seated In Christ

Ever felt like no matter where you are in life you alwayd felt like you needed a place of belonging? Whether its a seat at the financials table or the most put-to-gether table,  we all have a need to belong to something or more importantly someone.

In another great hit  Heather Hollman shares with us a journey through her life and how she too once had the need for belonging. Hollman shares eith us that throughout our life, wether christian or coming of faith we all feel the same way.

Seated In Christ goes in depth on how God is our table and we are all seated around Him with Jesus. We are all invited to come as we are and surrender ourselves to be renewed in Jesus.

No matter what hourney you’ve been on or what kind of situations you’ve been through, you will always have a seat at the table Jesus and He will build you up in confidence and strength through Him so you may carry on the good works you were meant to do for the kingdom of God!

I stumbled uoom these books while browsing a few local christian book stores and have come to really enjoy the read and heloful advuce of Heather Hollman. I hope you find these books to be a light for you guys and inspires you to live a life guarded in and seated with Christ!!

Have a wonderful day! 🙂

All the best! ,

Project Protein: Vegan & Plant Based

Hello Hello!

This is an interesting topic that I’m excited to share with you guys today. I love getting new information from my family and friends ,then doing the research on it and then pass on the news.  Just so we are clear, I am not a certified nutritionist of any sort, just a health conscious individual committed to sharing my own experiences and ideas with others.  So without further ado, lets get to it!

What is  Protein?

In a nutshell , Protein is what build or muscles, bones and tissues. It is also used to build and repair tissues.

Getting Protein

Instead of getting your protein from meats, vegans and vegetarians go for veggies, legumes and non-dairy items.

here are a list of proteins that you can get from other alternatives :

**Side Note: Grams Per Protein Are based off of the serving size provided on the recipes and /or containers.**

Vegetables, Non-dairy milk such as almond, coconut, oat, cashew, soy etc., Quinoa , Tofu (soy Product), Lentils, Beans, Tempeh (soy product), Peanut Butter, Hemp Seeds, Almonds, Cashews, Kale, Spinach, Flax seeds and chia seeds etc.

According to the Plant Based Protein Chart provided on ,  a quarter cup of chia is 12 grams and flax seeds are 8 grams of protein. Almonds have 7 grams and cashews have 4 grams of protein. Beans such as lentils have 18 grams, chickpeas have 29 grams per cup and kidney beans have 43 grams of protein.

Protein Powder

If you can’t get enough protein in your diet throughout the day then protein powder is a good substitute or even an additive.  Sometimes our lives are so packed that food seems like a chore , so instead of skipping out on the nutrition your body needs, ingesting protein powder can provide you the proper amounts of nutrients for a meal in a time convenient way. All you need is the protein powder an a liquid such as juice, non-dairy milk source, or water to blend together for your protein shake.

Picking Out Your Protein

There is a large number of protein powders on the market and deciding which one is best for you is based on your health and diet. For starters lets break down the types of protein powders.

Whey protein is he most common and comes from cow milk and is a byproduct of cheese. There is about 2.1 grams of protein to one cup of Whey.

Casein protein and whey protein make up dairy milk. Casein is extracted from cheese while in the coagulant stage.

Pea Isolate Protein comes from yellow peas and provides all the essential amino acids your body needs to function and is also allergen free.  protein isolate basically means that when the peas are being extracted , they remove everything but the protein to get the most protein out of the vegetable. Protein isolates are about 90-95% protein by weight according to .

My Protein Powder Trials

Since this whole protein powder intake is new to me i’ve only tried out two types of protein brands. Of course, Since I’m now on the vegan journey these proteins will be Dairy free, vegan and plant based.

The First protein powder I  sampled was the Garden Of life Raw Organic Protein with chocolate. This version gives you 22 grams of protein in one scoop. It is also gluten, soy and dairy free! Contains 18 amino acids, and made up of pea protein and brown rice protein.

The second protein I sampled and ended up purchasing was the Sprouts Vegan Protein, also chocolate flavored! Contains 20 grams of protein per scoop for the 17.7 ounce version. This protein is also derived from pea isolate and brown rice concentrate and is also gluten and soy free. I really enjoyed this protein powder due to the smooth texture of the protein and the rich taste of the cocoa. I recommend using coconut milk with the protein for a better more smooth taste!!

I hope this article was helpful and is effective for you in your daily dieting ! Just to reiterate from earlier , I am not a nutritionist just a health conscious individual and newly  practicing vegan who is committed to sharing information about topics of my own interest with others. Please comment, like , subscribe and comment down below what your favorite protein powder is or what you like to mix your protein powder with!

Sweet Tooth Central! Vegan Addition #3

Hello Hello!!

Yes, I have a sweet tooth and I am not afraid to admit it!! But we don’t have to go around hanging our heads in shame anymore. No my friends! With portion control, occasional indulgence and the right products, we can enjoy our sweets without shame!!

Introducing Nelly’s Organics!

I just have to point out that the brand name is so great, and just so happens to be my nickname (btw). Going back to the details, this delicious brand of chocolate bars are pure at it’s core. Nelly’s Organics are soy-free, vegan, and full of raw organic ingredients.

These chocolates are only about 1.6 ounces each , but just enough to get all the goodness in a single serving! The three types of chocolate bars I tested out ( with my sisters , of course!) are Double Chocolate, Coconut, and Nutty Nougat. All great choices to choose from depending on your likes and moods.

My personal favorite was the Coconut, it resembles an almond joy but with more coconut and with rich chocolate. The Nutty Nougat reminded me of a snickers in a way wihtout carmel but with a delicious sweet Cashew filling and the Double Chocolate was just out of this world!! I definitely should’ve had a glass of almond milk with that! 🙂

Thanks for checking out my post! Let me know in the comments below which chocolate bar was your favorite and please don’t forget to Like, follow and subscribe to my blog! Thanks! Have a wonderful day!!

Nada Moo!! Its just right for you!

Yes in deed! This delicious creamy dairy free and vegan delite is in fact 100% delicious and produce right here in the U.S in Austin Texas. At first I was a little skeptical because of the similar taste and texture but after doing a little research I realized that this decadent treat is the REAL DEAL!!

Cookies and Cream is hands down delicious!! Not too sweet , just right! In fact, after a few bites you can taste the coconut in the ice cream. I didn’t try the Lotta Mint But I heard it was really good and worth a try!!

RedBrick Pizza: Vegan Addition

Hey Guys! Welcome back to my foodie finds!

Today I will be featuring Red Brick Pizza with a special twist !!

Let’s Jump Right In!! 🙂

RedBrick Pizza

RedBrick pizza is a local favorite and not only caters to the carnivores taste buds but also to the herbivores such as Vegans, Vegetarians and the gluten frees!! This is a huge deal to me because the majority of my family members only consume veggies or have a more veggie based diet with no meats and no dairy!

When you enter into the pizza cafe they will have a list at the counter (depending on location) of all the vegetarian options. Its pretty much the same original artisan styled pizza’s on the menu just without the meat.

For the gluten free and vegans, you have to request the vegan styled cheese also known as Daiya on top of their Gluten Free pizza dough. Daiya is a non- dairy , soy, lactose, egg, peanuts, fish and shellfish free plant based “cheese” . Daiya uses all natural ingredients and is certified Vegan.

I check out this restaurant with a buddy of mine and we tried out two types of vegan pizza’s. The one I had was the Farmer Kyle which included pine huts, Daiya, fresh arugula and cilantro, red onions , banana peppers and mushrooms.

P.s The Small is the PERFECT size for an individual pizza. Four slices and just enough to fill you up !:)

So for all those Gluten Free, Vegetarians and vegans I would highly recommend checking out this place !! Let me know in the comments below what your favorite pizza is!!

Thanks for checking out my post! Chat with you soon!

Be You, Be Original!

Hello Hello everyone!!

Do you ever wonder why you do what you do everyday? Do you ever feel like sometimes you don’t want to participate in a certain activity, or wonder why you listening to that song, or acting that way?

Do you ever feel like your just not yourself more often then not? I feel like we have all felt this way at some point in our lives or are feeling these feelings right now.

So why is it that we feel these feelings? Lets dig in!

Influences in Society &Your Surroundings

I’m no expert but I’m pretty intuitive and I believe wholeheartedly that our surroundings play a huge role in the way we act or view ourselves. If your surrounded by lots of people who are well educated and sophisticated you will start taking some of those qualities as well. Same goes for the exact opposite, if your surrounded by people who are unmotivated and lazy then sometimes you start taking on some of  those qualities too.

They way we dress and act towards each other, male and female is primarily influenced by your family but society does play a role in influencing you through T.V., music, and magazines . On one spectrum your family has a way they raised you, the taught you how to treat one another, the way you should dress appropriately, how to speak to each other and how to live your life. Then on the opposite side is society, That scandalous is the new way to live your life, be a little crazy, act a little reckless , to whatever you want , no regrets, etc..

In the jumble of all these opinions really comes down to one simple thing, your God given right to CHOOSE. God didn’t make us robots so that we did everything a certain way, not even close! God gave us a choice. Just like is says in Galatians 5:13 – For, brothers, you were called to be free. Only do not let that freedom become an excuse for allowing your old nature to have its way. Instead, serve one another in love. God wants you to judge each situation with wisdom and righteousness. He wants you to have a good time, be you, express yourself, but just like the father He is, He wants to make sure your living your life to fullest and wisely. Just like the Bible says in Romans 12:1-2 – i urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, To present your bodies as a living sacrifice-holy and acceptable to God- which is your spiritual service. Do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God- what is good and acceptable and perfect. Do not follow after the things the rest of the world does (a.k.a society) because He has called us to do greater , make a difference , and be a light! You can’t really be a light or make a difference if you don’t allow your self to be you and step out of your comfort zone.

When I was in High School struggled with this vary problem I didn’t know who I was really, or what I followed in my heart. Sometimes the noise of the world distracts me form God and I get caught up in the mix of things. I figure it’s better to be like everyone else because we’re all on the same page. But eventually I decided to just let go and listen to that tug in my heart telling me to stop living a mediocre life and to just not be afraid to be me! It was hard at first, I felt insecure , like everyone was wondering why I wasn’t wearing the latest fashion, listening to a certain song, or going out all the time on the weekends.  I quickly began to realize that the people I CHOSE to surround myself didn’t have the same beliefs as me, they cared about things I didn’t care about and they ridiculed others for being different.

No wonder I felt that way!! I was surrounding myself with people who didn’t like being different, who didn’t want to make a change, they enjoyed being mediocre. Slowly but surely I started being me and getting more and more comfortable with expressing my differences with my friends and everyone around me. The people I was surrounding mysef with would take a notice and most thought it was weird, some ridiculed me for it and a few appreciated it! Eventually I CHOSE to only be around the people that were different from the bunch. I lost a lot of friends, but in the end I realized that they were not there to appreciate my individuality and expressiveness, which means they were never there for me to begin with.

Its hard at first for anyone taking the step to step out of there comfort zone and just be yourself but I’m telling you , it’ll be worth it later on. Not only is it good for you so you can be comfortable in our own skin, but your not giving in to the mediocre way of livng like the rest of the world. This can work for any aspect of your life, such as they way you speak, dress, and act towards people. Making this change in your like if completely your own CHOICE, but if you choose to live in fear and just not want to change, just know you could have been dong something better with your life and making a change for others in a way only you can express to the world.

Living A Life Of Calling..

Mathew 5:14-16 says, You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on a lampstand so it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” You were called to be different , make a difference and be YOU! That’s Gods ultimate plan. Not to be like everyone else, but to express yourself , your individuality and creativity in a way that’s good and unique to you , and that can be a positive outlet for others for God to work in there life. You can’t do the fixing, but you can help guide others to the one who can!

Even if you work at Mcd’s and ask everyone through the drive through if they would like to add fries with that? You can be a positive influence to someone. You never know what effect you have on another person, so make is count and make it meaningful!  God will do the rest. Even if you are not where you want to be in life, Wrong job, wrong city, single , no family of your own, widowed, divorced.. The list goes on! Just know that everything in life is temporary. So while your in each transitioning phase, make the best of it!

I know it’s easier said then done, I’ve had many incidences where I didn’t my job, or I wanted to get out of my city but couldn’t accomplish that goal until I had enough funds or found a particular state I wanted to reside in, but you can’t just hate your life while your waiting for something better. You have to embrace the transitioning phase until you arrive to the next chapter in your life.

Embrace the Transition, Live a Life of Calling & Be YOU

Have you ever noticed that one person around you who seems to just be happy to be themselves and doesn’t mind being different? Can you see the way they act and live life? They always tend to be more positive, reflective and creative. Almost like they know how much they are loved , they know deep down that they were called to be different and they chose to act upon it, and they feel free! That my friend can be you! Will be you! All you need to do is CHOOSE.

That’s all I have for today folks! If you enjoyed this post please like below , follow my social media and subscribe to my blog! Hope you all have a wonderful day and CHOOSE to be a light! 🙂

All the best!,

Food Review #2: Maria’s Italian Kitchen

Good Afternoon everyone!

Today I’m going to share with you my review of Maria’s Italian Kitchen. So without further ado , let’s get to it !!!

My Experience..

How I came upon this restaurant was during my ladie’s night out on Monday. I attended along with one of my sisters and a friend of hers who suggested we try this place out. They both had been there before and had great reviews on it, so we just decided to try it out for my sake.

We chose the location in Oxnard, California located in the Collection.

What We Ate..

The service on a Monday was great, Staff was friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was vibrant and relaxing. First thing I noticed when we walked in was the sweet aroma of you guessed it, marinara sauce and garlic bread!

For starters they give the table a complementary garlic and herb bread sticks with Balsamic Vinegar and oil. DELICIOUS! The bread was warm as if it came right out of the oven.

On top of the complementary bread sticks, we all shared an appetizer of Garlic Knots . Again, FRESH OUT THE OVEN the aroma was so sweet with a Garlic hint. The flavors were vary balanced.

The entree I tried out was one of their many pasta dishes, the Linguine Michelangelo. The delicious yet simple textures of the fresh mushrooms and spinach drizzled with olive oil and sliced garlic makes for a nice light dinner.

My sisters friend tried the Shrimp Scampi. Fettuccine noodles with garlic shrimp tossed in a slightly heavy (slightly) spicy sauce and topped off with fresh parsley. The portion size was just enough to get the full effect of flavors!!

Another Must Try!

The overall experience was tasty and recommended to all  those pasta lovers out there! 🙂
