When God Hears you & Answers

Good evening everyone!!

Sorry it has been quite some times since I last posted. My Month long adventures brings new articles and plenty of great insight that I had received to share and pass on to you guys!

While I was away on a work trip, I went through a lot of challenging situations that God provided me opportunities to  overcome and learn from.  So without further ado let’s jump right in!!

When we Pray

Whenever we go through challenging situations we always end up giving God the most shout outs  but what about all the times he has provided the direction and insight we needed?? We have more good days then bad but for some reason we choose to only get close to God in the hard times.

For myself, I choose to thank God through the good and the bad days, times, and situations. With this kind of mindset and relationship you reduce the amount of mundane days and prayers you have with God.

While we are enjoying all the good times , we get use to the good and forget to thank God for the times that He gives us to enjoy and instead focus on how He will get us out of the bad. To me that doesn’t seem like a relationship, in fact I feel as though it distances yourself between God.

When we pray we should have the mentality of always thanking God first for everything He has done for us, providing a path, successful careers, being a shoulder to lean on etc. You can also thank God through the adversity in your life. Adversity is one of the vary reasons your relationship grows with God because it allows Him to test you and refine you as a whole.

Praying with a purpose

I’ve learned throughout time how to pray more effectively. At first we all sound the same, praying for all the things that we want in life followed up by a quick thanks for everything and so on. To me prayers like this are useless and have no substance. First off, God is not some genie who grants you three wishes.. Not even close!!

God is the creator of the universe!! He created man and women, the air we breath every living thing that crawls and inhibits the earth that he also created! And with all the wonderful things that He implanted, created and embedded in each of us, this God of ours chooses to allows us freedom to follow in the foot steps of his son Jesus or to live out an earthy life. What he wants is for us to WANT to be with Him and serve with Him , to be a light to a fallen world and it all starts with hoe we approach Him in prayer.

God wants to have a relationship with all of us, and if we desire the same with Him then we should give Him the time of day, treating our time with God like if it were a gym session; focused, purposeful and completely engaged. When we pray we should pray with a purpose , starting with giving thanks for all that He has provided (success, job, finances, health, etc.) and for guiding and directing our paths.  Then we should follow up with asking Him to continue to guide us through whatever event, obstacle, or situation that you are going through and ask that He PROVIDE the STRENGTH, GOOD JUDGEMENT and PEACE OF MIND to get you though that time.

When we pray with purpose it allows us to rely on God and all that He provides, it gives us a more grateful and thankful attitude , and give the honor , glory and power back to God.

God & Guidance

“Adonai is good as a refuge in the day of distress, and he knows those who take refuge in Him.” – Nahum 1:7

God knows us more then we know ourselves and all He wants is for us to truly trust him and seek him with all the desires of our heart. The more we can connect to God the more He can guide us and open our eyes to new growth opportunities and ways to positively  impact others for His cause.

For me , I was able to truly dig deep and know without a doubt that God is here for me through the good and the bad and that when adversity shows up at my door step, God is trying to pry open my flaws and refine me so that I can be a better me in order to help those around me to get in touch with Him. This vary foundation all boils down to trusting God wholeheartedly with every aspect of your life.

When we pray purposeful prayers, we allow ourselves to put God in control of every situation and provide us the strength and guidance needed. Praying in the good times by giving thanks lets us remind ourselves daily of all the things He has pushed us through, helped us attain, and overcome.

Foodie Finds #3: Koon Thai Kitchen

Hey Guys!

Ever looking for something authentic, spicy and flavorful??

Then look no further!!..

Koon Thai Kitchen, San Diego Ca

San Diego is home to some of my favorite restaurants and eateries, but this one tops the charts for Best Authentic Thai Food!!

Simply decorated interior and nice enticing exterior, Koon’s offers an array of choices from curries to fried rice, sushi and salads!!

Of course, I love the curries so I had to try their PaDang Curry. A delicious blend of coconut milk, peanut oil, tofu and mix veggies topped with their deliciously spicy Authentic Thailand hot peppers!!

When ordering your grub, make sure to specify how spicy you want your food. Since the hot peppers are from Thailand they are hotter then your usual. But for someone who delights in the spicy side of life, I went for the Medium choice and it was by far the best option! Just enough spice that I wasn’t completely dying of thirst or missing out on all the delectable flavors of the Padang.

So the next time you head down to San Diego California make sure to stop by and check out this tasty fine dining delight!! 🙂

If you enjoyed this post be sure to comment down below, like my post, share it with a friend or even shoot me an email of you trying this foodie find for yourself!

Be You, Be Original!

Hello Hello everyone!!

Do you ever wonder why you do what you do everyday? Do you ever feel like sometimes you don’t want to participate in a certain activity, or wonder why you listening to that song, or acting that way?

Do you ever feel like your just not yourself more often then not? I feel like we have all felt this way at some point in our lives or are feeling these feelings right now.

So why is it that we feel these feelings? Lets dig in!

Influences in Society &Your Surroundings

I’m no expert but I’m pretty intuitive and I believe wholeheartedly that our surroundings play a huge role in the way we act or view ourselves. If your surrounded by lots of people who are well educated and sophisticated you will start taking some of those qualities as well. Same goes for the exact opposite, if your surrounded by people who are unmotivated and lazy then sometimes you start taking on some of  those qualities too.

They way we dress and act towards each other, male and female is primarily influenced by your family but society does play a role in influencing you through T.V., music, and magazines . On one spectrum your family has a way they raised you, the taught you how to treat one another, the way you should dress appropriately, how to speak to each other and how to live your life. Then on the opposite side is society, That scandalous is the new way to live your life, be a little crazy, act a little reckless , to whatever you want , no regrets, etc..

In the jumble of all these opinions really comes down to one simple thing, your God given right to CHOOSE. God didn’t make us robots so that we did everything a certain way, not even close! God gave us a choice. Just like is says in Galatians 5:13 – For, brothers, you were called to be free. Only do not let that freedom become an excuse for allowing your old nature to have its way. Instead, serve one another in love. God wants you to judge each situation with wisdom and righteousness. He wants you to have a good time, be you, express yourself, but just like the father He is, He wants to make sure your living your life to fullest and wisely. Just like the Bible says in Romans 12:1-2 – i urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, To present your bodies as a living sacrifice-holy and acceptable to God- which is your spiritual service. Do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God- what is good and acceptable and perfect. Do not follow after the things the rest of the world does (a.k.a society) because He has called us to do greater , make a difference , and be a light! You can’t really be a light or make a difference if you don’t allow your self to be you and step out of your comfort zone.

When I was in High School struggled with this vary problem I didn’t know who I was really, or what I followed in my heart. Sometimes the noise of the world distracts me form God and I get caught up in the mix of things. I figure it’s better to be like everyone else because we’re all on the same page. But eventually I decided to just let go and listen to that tug in my heart telling me to stop living a mediocre life and to just not be afraid to be me! It was hard at first, I felt insecure , like everyone was wondering why I wasn’t wearing the latest fashion, listening to a certain song, or going out all the time on the weekends.  I quickly began to realize that the people I CHOSE to surround myself didn’t have the same beliefs as me, they cared about things I didn’t care about and they ridiculed others for being different.

No wonder I felt that way!! I was surrounding myself with people who didn’t like being different, who didn’t want to make a change, they enjoyed being mediocre. Slowly but surely I started being me and getting more and more comfortable with expressing my differences with my friends and everyone around me. The people I was surrounding mysef with would take a notice and most thought it was weird, some ridiculed me for it and a few appreciated it! Eventually I CHOSE to only be around the people that were different from the bunch. I lost a lot of friends, but in the end I realized that they were not there to appreciate my individuality and expressiveness, which means they were never there for me to begin with.

Its hard at first for anyone taking the step to step out of there comfort zone and just be yourself but I’m telling you , it’ll be worth it later on. Not only is it good for you so you can be comfortable in our own skin, but your not giving in to the mediocre way of livng like the rest of the world. This can work for any aspect of your life, such as they way you speak, dress, and act towards people. Making this change in your like if completely your own CHOICE, but if you choose to live in fear and just not want to change, just know you could have been dong something better with your life and making a change for others in a way only you can express to the world.

Living A Life Of Calling..

Mathew 5:14-16 says, You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on a lampstand so it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” You were called to be different , make a difference and be YOU! That’s Gods ultimate plan. Not to be like everyone else, but to express yourself , your individuality and creativity in a way that’s good and unique to you , and that can be a positive outlet for others for God to work in there life. You can’t do the fixing, but you can help guide others to the one who can!

Even if you work at Mcd’s and ask everyone through the drive through if they would like to add fries with that? You can be a positive influence to someone. You never know what effect you have on another person, so make is count and make it meaningful!  God will do the rest. Even if you are not where you want to be in life, Wrong job, wrong city, single , no family of your own, widowed, divorced.. The list goes on! Just know that everything in life is temporary. So while your in each transitioning phase, make the best of it!

I know it’s easier said then done, I’ve had many incidences where I didn’t my job, or I wanted to get out of my city but couldn’t accomplish that goal until I had enough funds or found a particular state I wanted to reside in, but you can’t just hate your life while your waiting for something better. You have to embrace the transitioning phase until you arrive to the next chapter in your life.

Embrace the Transition, Live a Life of Calling & Be YOU

Have you ever noticed that one person around you who seems to just be happy to be themselves and doesn’t mind being different? Can you see the way they act and live life? They always tend to be more positive, reflective and creative. Almost like they know how much they are loved , they know deep down that they were called to be different and they chose to act upon it, and they feel free! That my friend can be you! Will be you! All you need to do is CHOOSE.

That’s all I have for today folks! If you enjoyed this post please like below , follow my social media and subscribe to my blog! Hope you all have a wonderful day and CHOOSE to be a light! 🙂

Food Review #2: Maria’s Italian Kitchen

Good Afternoon everyone!

Today I’m going to share with you my review of Maria’s Italian Kitchen. So without further ado , let’s get to it !!!

My Experience..

How I came upon this restaurant was during my ladie’s night out on Monday. I attended along with one of my sisters and a friend of hers who suggested we try this place out. They both had been there before and had great reviews on it, so we just decided to try it out for my sake.

We chose the location in Oxnard, California located in the Collection.

What We Ate..

The service on a Monday was great, Staff was friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was vibrant and relaxing. First thing I noticed when we walked in was the sweet aroma of you guessed it, marinara sauce and garlic bread!

For starters they give the table a complementary garlic and herb bread sticks with Balsamic Vinegar and oil. DELICIOUS! The bread was warm as if it came right out of the oven.

On top of the complementary bread sticks, we all shared an appetizer of Garlic Knots . Again, FRESH OUT THE OVEN the aroma was so sweet with a Garlic hint. The flavors were vary balanced.

The entree I tried out was one of their many pasta dishes, the Linguine Michelangelo. The delicious yet simple textures of the fresh mushrooms and spinach drizzled with olive oil and sliced garlic makes for a nice light dinner.

My sisters friend tried the Shrimp Scampi. Fettuccine noodles with garlic shrimp tossed in a slightly heavy (slightly) spicy sauce and topped off with fresh parsley. The portion size was just enough to get the full effect of flavors!!

Another Must Try!

The overall experience was tasty and recommended to all  those pasta lovers out there! 🙂

Baked Salmon With Parsley, Lemon & Onions

Hello guys!

As a fellow pescatarian I enjoy trying out any kind of fish based recipes that I can find or that I make at work. This recipe is pretty simple and is lightly seasoned as to not take away from the delicious flavors that the salmon already has.

Just as a side note, salmon just so happens to be one of my favorite kinds of fish so I am really excited to share this recipe with all of you!

To all my fellow Pescatarians out there, this one is for you! 🙂

You will need the following:

  • 2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 White Onion , Sliced
  • 2 Lemons, Sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Parsley Flakes
  • 6 to 8 oz Salmon (Wild Caught), As roughly 2-4 pieces
  • 1/2 cup, Olive Oil

Let’s Get Started!

Preheat oven to 350  degrees.

Combine all your dry ingredients into a medium sized mixing bowl. Add a half cup of olive oil to the bowl and mix together with the dry ingredients. Place the salmon into the medium bowl and gently exfoliate the fish with the mixed ingredients.

Coat your sheet pan with a little olive oil then place your salmon pieces onto the sheet pan, sprinkle over the fish with onion  & lemon slices  and pop it in the oven for 15-20 minutes.

*Note: Do Not Over Cook Salmon! It ill give it a tough texture, simply apply less time in the oven and constantly check for good color and consistency . Your fish should be pink and white as cooked indicators and a little flaky.

Remove from oven and let your salmon cool for three minutes. Plate your fish and enjoy!

*Tip: To make your dish pop, place a small bed of ice burg lettuce leafs (1-2 pcs) on the bottom of your dish then place your salmon on top with along with the onions and lemon slices you bakes. Get a little bit of the juice left on the sheet pan and pour it on top of the fish!

Hope you guys enjoy this recipe! Let me know how it turned out for you in the comments below! Have a recipe you would like to share? Leave it in the comments and I’ll be sure to try it out! 🙂

Book Review #1 : God Girl , Hayley Dimarco

Welcome to my FIRST book review!!

I am so excited to be sharing this book with you guys. How I stumbled upon this book was quite remarkable. I was in a confused state at work and just in general with my life. Sometimes you hit rock bottom more then once, and I defiinitely have it it quite a few times since I’ve been with this job. But surely enough , God always comes through and sheds light in my world and keeps me grounded in Him.

How I stumbled upon this book..

I was hitting a wall in my Bible study time, so I thought it would be a good idea to go to a local Christian bookstore in my area and browse the “Christian Life” section. I found a bookstore near by and started wondering around the store for anything that might jump out at me. I ran into God girl on one of the shelves and did the usual, read the back of the book then flip to the first chapter and read a little. It was intriguing enough to hold onto so I though it be best to just buy it.

Unbeknownst to myself, I bought a train ticket home that weekend so I wouldn’t have to drive the four and a half hours up the coast to visit my folks. Turns out it was the best four and a half hours spent indulging in this vary book! So without further a do, lets get chatting!

God Girl by Hayley Dimarco Review

God Girl is about being the the girl that God wants you to be through in Him! Her relationship with the Creator is her #1 priority . Her life isn’t easy but she can get through the challenges because she is well aware of Gods truth and blessings that He has instilled in her. Dimarco uses the analogy of  us girls (or guys!) as branches and He as the vine in reference to John 15:1-8 Which says,

I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He trims so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. The branch cannot itself produce fruit, unless it abides on the vine. Likewise, you cannot produce fruit unless you abide in Me.“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and is dried up. Such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples.”

Dimarco uses this analogy as the focal point of her book. This verse is true in all aspects of your life such as how you love, find happiness, know yourself, in communicating with others, and getting to know God. Dimarco gives great advice about how you can stay connected, what to avoid and so much more by sharing her own struggles and stories.  This book shows you how you can remain attached to the “vine” in your everyday life and how you can help others remain attached and become a God Girl as well.

Psalm 119:105~ Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

This verse is one of my favorites!

What does it mean to be strong and courageous in Christ? Lets check out the whole verse! (TLV) Joshua 1:9 – Be STRONG & COURAGEOUS. Do not be afraid or dismayed , for the Lord your God will be with you where ever  you may go. This verse has a lot of good pointers but before we dig deep lets review some vocabulary.

What does it mean to be STRONG in Christ? According to Marriam-Webster.com strong means having or marked by great physical power, having moral or intellectual power, or having great resources (as of wealth or talent).  Being strong in Christ means that you are able to enhance those talents and strengths you had received and harness them to its full capacity through Christ who helps you become the man/woman He created you to be.

What does it mean to be COURAGEOUS in Christ? Going back to our handy dandy Marriam-Webster.com, courageous refers to having or characterized by courage, mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.   God gives you the ability to conquer any kind of mental blockage that you put on yourself to achieving your goals or push past your fears, He gives you the capacity to do more then you thought you were humanly capable of to do on your own.

So in other words, being STRONG & COURAGEOUS in Christ is to ultimately trust and believe that God will help you get through any difficult situation in your life, whether its through mental or physical endurance, the ability to zero out everything and focus on your goals and the tasks at hand, helping you use your talents to better yourself and those around you and so much more! Only God has the capability of helping you be the  best YOU that you can be, but in order to get there you have to know and believe for yourself that God is there for you and that he will be there always to give you the guidance, wisdom and strength you need to take that next leap of faith.

God gives you the ability to have no fears and be COURAGEOUS , brave and risk taking!

The next part of this verse says ” ..Do not be afraid or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you where ever you may go”. Being dismayed refers to loosing that motivation and courage to push through and reach those tasks and goals. In other words God gives you the strength, courage, wisdom and guidance to preserver but sometimes while we are going though the process of taking that leap of faith there are so many road bumps that start to feel more unbearable hen they really are and we start to loose sight of the goals we had and the overall big picture of things and our trust goes out the window.

Lets be honest, I think we have all been there , more then once! I for sure have . But do not be discouraged ! This verse is a great reminder that know matter what you are going through or what the situation might seem like, God has your back and will always be there to get you through anything. He wants you to know that although you might be going through a storm right now, He sees the end and knows whats in store for you on the other side and knows that you can get through this with Him by your side.

This verse is one of my favorites because it reassures me in my faith when I’m in the middle of that storm and chaos in my life I know for a fact that I can get through this, and admit-tingly I can’t do it on my own, but I know I have an awesome God who cares for me and wants the best for me, who is constantly reaching out His hand and giving me guidance, peace and comfort.

I hope that this post gives you guys insight into such a deep and meaningful verse and I hope that know matter what you’re going through, this can provide comfort in the times of peace and challenging in your life !! 🙂

All the best!,
