Foodie Finds: *Tender Greens !*

Hey Guys!!

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Today I have a Foodie Find that I’m super stoked to share with you guys, so without further ado lets jump in!!

Tender Greens Point Loma ,Ca

Whenever I’m driving around town there are usually about three things running through my head, number one: what do I want to do? Where do I want to go and number three : Am I hungry? If so, what to eat?! So long story short I’m always thinking about food ( Not to mention I’m a cook!) and when I’m driving around town I like to search for my next little foodie gem.

Since I have food restrictions I look for the most out of the box restaurants or food joints that cater to my dietary needs. This restaurant definitely checked the box for all of that!!

What I admire about this little gem is the open concept of the interior and the cafeteria styled ordering . It’s definitely untraditional but it really works! ( p.s I really like restaurants that have the kitchen on the outside so you can watch the chefs cook your food!) The atmospher is so peaceful and welcoming, the restaurant caiters to all kinds of dietary restrictions such as Vegans, Pescetarians and carnivores making this a great choice for family night outs or a date night!

My foodie choice of the day was the Tuna Nicoise Salad. This tasty dish comes with   seared tuna and a variety of unique toppings such as quail egg, capers,  green beans, Weiser Farms potatoes with a splash of the sherry vinaigrette. The dish not only was really tasty but also was eye catching!

The outside dining really makes this restaurant even more appealing ! You get a healthy gourmet meal with the beautiful outdoor weather and friendly customer service, what more could you ask for?! Not to mention, They love dogs! Choose the outdoor seating and before you know it a server is at your table with a bowl of water just for your pup!

Overall this is a nice little restaurant for any kind of casual occasion and I would highly recommend it for such an outing!

Thanks again for checking out my post! Let me know in the comments below what your favorite entree on the menu is or what you like the most about this restaurant! Please like, comment and subscribe to my blog!

Thanks guys, have a great week!! 🙂

Guarded In Christ Book Review Special!!

Hello Hello !

Today I will be doing two book reviews for the price of one blog post! So without further ado lets jump right in!

This is one of my favorites written by Heather Hollman who invites the readers to surrender themselves to the will of the Holy Spirit. By surrendering we will be able to fulfil the quests that God has for us to accomplish here on earth.

Hollman goes into the structure of how we need to keep God at the center of our minds and hearts. God is our fotress and our protector keeping us safe from spiritual battles.

In order for us to except Gods will for our lives we must die to self  to be hidden in Christ and live out a crucified life with God.

Hollman illustrates these empowering cincepts by using the Eagle metaphor and hidden fortress within us.

Without spoiling the rest, I highly encourage you guys to take a look at her book and be inspired and empowered by her words!!

Seated In Christ

Ever felt like no matter where you are in life you alwayd felt like you needed a place of belonging? Whether its a seat at the financials table or the most put-to-gether table,  we all have a need to belong to something or more importantly someone.

In another great hit  Heather Hollman shares with us a journey through her life and how she too once had the need for belonging. Hollman shares eith us that throughout our life, wether christian or coming of faith we all feel the same way.

Seated In Christ goes in depth on how God is our table and we are all seated around Him with Jesus. We are all invited to come as we are and surrender ourselves to be renewed in Jesus.

No matter what hourney you’ve been on or what kind of situations you’ve been through, you will always have a seat at the table Jesus and He will build you up in confidence and strength through Him so you may carry on the good works you were meant to do for the kingdom of God!

I stumbled uoom these books while browsing a few local christian book stores and have come to really enjoy the read and heloful advuce of Heather Hollman. I hope you find these books to be a light for you guys and inspires you to live a life guarded in and seated with Christ!!

Have a wonderful day! 🙂

Project Protein: Vegan & Plant Based

Hello Hello!

This is an interesting topic that I’m excited to share with you guys today. I love getting new information from my family and friends ,then doing the research on it and then pass on the news.  Just so we are clear, I am not a certified nutritionist of any sort, just a health conscious individual committed to sharing my own experiences and ideas with others.  So without further ado, lets get to it!

What is  Protein?

In a nutshell , Protein is what build or muscles, bones and tissues. It is also used to build and repair tissues.

Getting Protein

Instead of getting your protein from meats, vegans and vegetarians go for veggies, legumes and non-dairy items.

here are a list of proteins that you can get from other alternatives :

**Side Note: Grams Per Protein Are based off of the serving size provided on the recipes and /or containers.**

Vegetables, Non-dairy milk such as almond, coconut, oat, cashew, soy etc., Quinoa , Tofu (soy Product), Lentils, Beans, Tempeh (soy product), Peanut Butter, Hemp Seeds, Almonds, Cashews, Kale, Spinach, Flax seeds and chia seeds etc.

According to the Plant Based Protein Chart provided on ,  a quarter cup of chia is 12 grams and flax seeds are 8 grams of protein. Almonds have 7 grams and cashews have 4 grams of protein. Beans such as lentils have 18 grams, chickpeas have 29 grams per cup and kidney beans have 43 grams of protein.

Protein Powder

If you can’t get enough protein in your diet throughout the day then protein powder is a good substitute or even an additive.  Sometimes our lives are so packed that food seems like a chore , so instead of skipping out on the nutrition your body needs, ingesting protein powder can provide you the proper amounts of nutrients for a meal in a time convenient way. All you need is the protein powder an a liquid such as juice, non-dairy milk source, or water to blend together for your protein shake.

Picking Out Your Protein

There is a large number of protein powders on the market and deciding which one is best for you is based on your health and diet. For starters lets break down the types of protein powders.

Whey protein is he most common and comes from cow milk and is a byproduct of cheese. There is about 2.1 grams of protein to one cup of Whey.

Casein protein and whey protein make up dairy milk. Casein is extracted from cheese while in the coagulant stage.

Pea Isolate Protein comes from yellow peas and provides all the essential amino acids your body needs to function and is also allergen free.  protein isolate basically means that when the peas are being extracted , they remove everything but the protein to get the most protein out of the vegetable. Protein isolates are about 90-95% protein by weight according to .

My Protein Powder Trials

Since this whole protein powder intake is new to me i’ve only tried out two types of protein brands. Of course, Since I’m now on the vegan journey these proteins will be Dairy free, vegan and plant based.

The First protein powder I  sampled was the Garden Of life Raw Organic Protein with chocolate. This version gives you 22 grams of protein in one scoop. It is also gluten, soy and dairy free! Contains 18 amino acids, and made up of pea protein and brown rice protein.

The second protein I sampled and ended up purchasing was the Sprouts Vegan Protein, also chocolate flavored! Contains 20 grams of protein per scoop for the 17.7 ounce version. This protein is also derived from pea isolate and brown rice concentrate and is also gluten and soy free. I really enjoyed this protein powder due to the smooth texture of the protein and the rich taste of the cocoa. I recommend using coconut milk with the protein for a better more smooth taste!!

I hope this article was helpful and is effective for you in your daily dieting ! Just to reiterate from earlier , I am not a nutritionist just a health conscious individual and newly  practicing vegan who is committed to sharing information about topics of my own interest with others. Please comment, like , subscribe and comment down below what your favorite protein powder is or what you like to mix your protein powder with!

All the best!,

Sweet Tooth Central! Vegan Addition #3

Hello Hello!!

Yes, I have a sweet tooth and I am not afraid to admit it!! But we don’t have to go around hanging our heads in shame anymore. No my friends! With portion control, occasional indulgence and the right products, we can enjoy our sweets without shame!!

Introducing Nelly’s Organics!

I just have to point out that the brand name is so great, and just so happens to be my nickname (btw). Going back to the details, this delicious brand of chocolate bars are pure at it’s core. Nelly’s Organics are soy-free, vegan, and full of raw organic ingredients.

These chocolates are only about 1.6 ounces each , but just enough to get all the goodness in a single serving! The three types of chocolate bars I tested out ( with my sisters , of course!) are Double Chocolate, Coconut, and Nutty Nougat. All great choices to choose from depending on your likes and moods.

My personal favorite was the Coconut, it resembles an almond joy but with more coconut and with rich chocolate. The Nutty Nougat reminded me of a snickers in a way wihtout carmel but with a delicious sweet Cashew filling and the Double Chocolate was just out of this world!! I definitely should’ve had a glass of almond milk with that! 🙂

Thanks for checking out my post! Let me know in the comments below which chocolate bar was your favorite and please don’t forget to Like, follow and subscribe to my blog! Thanks! Have a wonderful day!!

Nada Moo!! Its just right for you!

Yes in deed! This delicious creamy dairy free and vegan delite is in fact 100% delicious and produce right here in the U.S in Austin Texas. At first I was a little skeptical because of the similar taste and texture but after doing a little research I realized that this decadent treat is the REAL DEAL!!

Cookies and Cream is hands down delicious!! Not too sweet , just right! In fact, after a few bites you can taste the coconut in the ice cream. I didn’t try the Lotta Mint But I heard it was really good and worth a try!!

Compared to Dairy ice cream , this coconut milk based ice cream is more refreshing, creamy and doesn’t have a strange after taste that you sometimes get consuming dairy ice cream.

RedBrick Pizza: Vegan Addition

Hey Guys! Welcome back to my foodie finds!

Today I will be featuring Red Brick Pizza with a special twist !!

Let’s Jump Right In!! 🙂

RedBrick Pizza

RedBrick pizza is a local favorite and not only caters to the carnivores taste buds but also to the herbivores such as Vegans, Vegetarians and the gluten frees!! This is a huge deal to me because the majority of my family members only consume veggies or have a more veggie based diet with no meats and no dairy!

When you enter into the pizza cafe they will have a list at the counter (depending on location) of all the vegetarian options. Its pretty much the same original artisan styled pizza’s on the menu just without the meat.

For the gluten free and vegans, you have to request the vegan styled cheese also known as Daiya on top of their Gluten Free pizza dough. Daiya is a non- dairy , soy, lactose, egg, peanuts, fish and shellfish free plant based “cheese” . Daiya uses all natural ingredients and is certified Vegan.

I check out this restaurant with a buddy of mine and we tried out two types of vegan pizza’s. The one I had was the Farmer Kyle which included pine huts, Daiya, fresh arugula and cilantro, red onions , banana peppers and mushrooms.

P.s The Small is the PERFECT size for an individual pizza. Four slices and just enough to fill you up !:)

So for all those Gluten Free, Vegetarians and vegans I would highly recommend checking out this place !! Let me know in the comments below what your favorite pizza is!!

Thanks for checking out my post! Chat with you soon!
