Book Review #1 : God Girl , Hayley Dimarco

Welcome to my FIRST book review!!

I am so excited to be sharing this book with you guys. How I stumbled upon this book was quite remarkable. I was in a confused state at work and just in general with my life. Sometimes you hit rock bottom more then once, and I defiinitely have it it quite a few times since I’ve been with this job. But surely enough , God always comes through and sheds light in my world and keeps me grounded in Him.

How I stumbled upon this book..

I was hitting a wall in my Bible study time, so I thought it would be a good idea to go to a local Christian bookstore in my area and browse the “Christian Life” section. I found a bookstore near by and started wondering around the store for anything that might jump out at me. I ran into God girl on one of the shelves and did the usual, read the back of the book then flip to the first chapter and read a little. It was intriguing enough to hold onto so I though it be best to just buy it.

Unbeknownst to myself, I bought a train ticket home that weekend so I wouldn’t have to drive the four and a half hours up the coast to visit my folks. Turns out it was the best four and a half hours spent indulging in this vary book! So without further a do, lets get chatting!

God Girl by Hayley Dimarco Review

God Girl is about being the the girl that God wants you to be through in Him! Her relationship with the Creator is her #1 priority . Her life isn’t easy but she can get through the challenges because she is well aware of Gods truth and blessings that He has instilled in her. Dimarco uses the analogy of  us girls (or guys!) as branches and He as the vine in reference to John 15:1-8 Which says,

I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He trims so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. The branch cannot itself produce fruit, unless it abides on the vine. Likewise, you cannot produce fruit unless you abide in Me.“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and is dried up. Such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples.”

Dimarco uses this analogy as the focal point of her book. This verse is true in all aspects of your life such as how you love, find happiness, know yourself, in communicating with others, and getting to know God. Dimarco gives great advice about how you can stay connected, what to avoid and so much more by sharing her own struggles and stories.  This book shows you how you can remain attached to the “vine” in your everyday life and how you can help others remain attached and become a God Girl as well.
